It's been an interesting fall...with rain on and off and unreal wind today. The beans are long ago in the bin, but quite a bit of corn has broken off in the field last night and today.

I thought I'd share some pictures I took yesterday over at the "home place"...where my sisters & I grew up. The demolition guys are scheduled to come in this week and take down the barn and a couple of the out buildings, so I wanted to get some pictures for posterity. Anyway...

The weather is finally cooperating quite nicely for riding! Gary and I have made several Sunday afternoon trips to explore northwest Iowa. I look at the nice acreages and get ideas for improving our house & landscaping, Gary looks at the crops. We have discovered that there are alot of little "hole-in-the-wall" bars to be discovered. Last Sunday, we ended up in Winnebego County at the Vinje Pub and Grill. It used to be a feed store back in the day, and I think there probably was an actual town there. Now it is just a "dive" by the side of the road with 2 sand volley ball courts outside, dining and a pool table inside (Really good burgers!) and a bar of course. There is also a paper mache man standing outside the ladies room that gave me quite a start! I have decided to take a digital camera along next time so that we can document our discoveries!

We will be going up to the Ritz in Sprit Lake tonight, free food sponsored by the Harley store in Okoboji. On the way, we'll stop to see Fern, Gary's mom. She had both her knees replaced yesterday in Spencer. She will probably be there thru the week.

Let hear it for enjoying the rest of Summer!!
